Scale What?

Businesses do not scale. Parts do.

Take the Scale What survey.

Twenty questions, about four minutes, on your phone. It reads where each of your four parts stands today and names the one to work on next.

Your Results

This is not a grade. It is a map of where your four parts stand today. Most people sit in three or four different phases at once. That is normal.

Your Four Parts

  • Message: Your content and IP, what you can reuse.
  • Menu: Your offers and the demand for them.
  • Muscle: Who or what produces your client results, people and machines.
  • Machine: The tooling and systems everything runs on.

The Five Phases

1 Idea

Still just an idea. Prove it works before you build on it.

2 Prove

It works, but not the same way every time.

3 Repeat

It works on purpose, written down so someone else could run it.

4 Scale

It produces more without more of you.

5 Sustain

It runs and renews when you step away.

A four-spoke radar plotting one respondent's Message, Menu, Muscle and Machine across the five phases, base 1 with the floor as the innermost ring
A real result. Message sits at Repeat, Menu at Prove, Muscle at Scale, Machine at Sustain. Menu is proven but not yet repeatable, so it is the next move.

The One Rule

You cannot skip a phase. Each part sits at the highest phase it has truly reached, and no further. A part can be strong in ways that do not count yet, because a later phase never counts until the earlier ones hold.

Your Next Move

Work on the most valuable part that is proven but not yet repeatable. Make it repeatable before you make it bigger. Leave the unproven parts alone for now. They have not earned the effort yet. Then use your strongest part to lift the one you are working on next.

The Goal

Not one tall spike. A rounder shape, lifted on purpose.

A mirror, not a verdict. Take it again when your shape changes.
